General Information

The King’s Student Union (KSU) offers the KSU Health & Dental Plan through its membership in The Campus Trust (TCT). In brief, TCT is a student-led, student-owned cooperative that pools resources to provide comprehensive and affordable coverage tailored to student needs. Each year, the KSU will gather feedback on students’ experiences with the plan in order to identify areas for improvement. As a member of The Campus Trust, the KSU cannot increase the cost of the Health & Dental Plan by more than 5% without holding a referendum, allowing the entire student body to vote on the proposed change. As a member of TCT, the Health & Dental plan is administered by the PBAS group.

  • Students enrolled in this year’s plan are eligible to receive reimbursement on drug, paramedical, dental and other medical expenses from September 1, 2026 until August 31, 2027. The cost of the health and dental plan for the full coverage year is $395.88

  • Full-time King’s students are automatically enrolled in both the health and dental plans, and are charged the $395.88 fee on their tuition bill.

  • Part- time students and Full-time students beginning their studies in Winter will need to manually opt in to the Health & Dental plan before the set deadlines with the Opt In/Add Dependants Form or through the Drawbridge website

  • Full-time students with comparable coverage can opt out of one or both of the plans between  August 11, 2026 to September 26th, 2026.

  • If you would like to opt out of your health plan coverage but keep the dental plan, or vice versa, you are able to do so online at studentbenefits.ca

  • To be eligible to opt out of our Health and Dental plan you must provide proof of comparable coverage. If you opt out of the Health and Dental plan, you will be reimbursed the Health and Dental plan fee which will be reflected in your student balance on your DAL student account.

Please note that the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) states that if you have access to a student health plan (regardless of whether you use it or not), you are no longer considered eligible for the CDCP. For more information on this, please click here for the CDCP fact sheet and FAQ. As a result, you are unable to opt out of the KSU Dental plan if you are solely covered by the CDCP.
